NR (Natural Rubber)
Characteristics Natural rubber, also called polyisoprene, is produced from the latex of the Hevea brasiliensis tree. Natural rubber offers many excellent characteristics, including high resilience and elongation, good abrasion resistance. Like SBR, its chief drawback is its poor resistance to either hydrocarbon oils. The double bond in its main polymer backbone also makes natural rubber susceptible to attack by oxygen, ozone, and UV light. NB is easily damaged by aging and heat, swelled and dissolved in mineral or petroleum oils, resistant to alkaline but not strong acid. Poor weatherability can be improved by further compounding.
Service Temperature The Service Temperature is from -50℃ C to 70℃. For short working periods it can take even higher temperature up to 100℃.
Hardness 40 to 90 Shore A are available.
Application NR is suitable for producing shock absorbing parts. It is the raw material for tapes, tubes, and rubber shoes. |
